Corporate Health & Safety Manager

Seafood Processor with operations in Alaska and offices in the Seattle area has an immediate opening for a Corporate Health and Safety Manager.

The Health and Safety Manager (HSM) is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the Company’s health and safety policies and programs in conformance with regulatory standards and company objectives and guidelines.  The primary objective of the HSM is to create a culture of safety at the company and thereby ensure that all employees have a safe environment in which to work. 



  • BS Degree in Occupational Safety Management or related field.  Experience may substitute.



  • Communication – The HSM must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  As a “Champion of Safety”, the HSM must have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to convey the company’s safety message in a positive manner.
  • Regulatory – The HSM must possess a broad and intimate knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Computer/Technical – The HSM must be proficient in Excel and Word and must be able to leverage Excel and other technologies to perform data analytics and query operations.
  • Travel to Alaska for extended periods of time is required.




  • Safety and Health Program (SHP) – the HSM is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SHP.  The SHP shall conform to all regulatory requirements and company goals.
  • Training – the HSM is responsible for developing and maintaining the company safety training programs so that all sites comply with regulatory requirements as well as stated company goals in a consistent manner.  The HSM is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all employees receive the required training.
  • Analysis and Investigation – the HSM will analyze collected incident data to discover trends and areas of risk and will review all incident reports and make action recommendations to management where appropriate.
  • Incentive Programs – The HSM will develop, implement, and review the efficacy of all safety incentive programs.
  • Reporting – The HSM will be responsible for reporting health and safety statistics and other health and safety information to management at regular intervals.
  • Regulatory – The HSM will be responsible for ensuring that the company is in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.  This includes keeping current with any changes in regulations and advising management of any upcoming or pending changes.
  • The HSM supervises seasonal Health and Safety staff.
